Autopsy results are in on my dad's friend...
And they said he had 3 heart attacks within 4 hrs and all valves were 80-90% blocked.
How does this happen? He has always been under a Dr's care because when he was younger he had 2 strokes. I just don't understand how they missed this

I am sorry to hear this. Something similar happened to my mom last year. She was in congestive heart failure because she had had 4 heart attacks and didn't even know it. Her arteries were 85% blocked. She was helicoptered to another hospital and she has been undergoing treatment ever since. She was lucky that she didn't die but she has had 2 additional heart attacks since then, for a grand total of 6 heart attacks. The doctors have no guaranty for how long she will live. She is legally disabled and could live a week or a year.

Oh wow - I am so sorry. It does make you wonder how these things get missed by doctors. Did they not know how blocked he was? Was he being monitored for the blockages?

They had no idea he had any blockage yet he was under routine care. It is so scary.

Did he have a cardiologist?
My Dad's regular doc failed to give him a stress test although he has a family history of heart disease. My Dad's brothers and sisters all have had them. Last June he went to the hospital for chest pain and he had to have quadruple by pass. I tell everyone not to go to that doctor.
Getting upset thinking about it.
The moral is you can not count 100% on your doctors. You need to do your own research as well.
ITA. Too many people will believe anything their Dr tells them and never bother for a 2nd opinion. But drs make mistakes and can miss things afterall they are only human.

He was under the care of a cardiologist. And he was feeling fine so he wouldn't even think to get a second opinion because he felt fine. This was a pretty big miss.

The day my grandfather died he was on his way home from a full physical at the doctor's office... he was told he was fine... and he didn't even make it 2 hours after his clean bill of health...he had a heart attack.
Scary how they can miss things! I'm sorry for your loss.

When my mother had just switched to a new PCP practice, the doctor who saw her was a cardiologist. All he had to do was see her walk (with her heavy breathing) and saw she needed more than he could give. She had all necessary diagnostics (forgive me for not knowing the names) and found that 3 of her arteries were about 90% blocked. She had triple bypass heart surgery and when the surgeon came out to talk to us, he basically said that in one more day, she would have had a heart attack. She still has CHF. She sees her cardiologist once a month and her surgery was about 3 years ago.
I dont know enough about blockages to know how quickly they happen, but if this was a person who was monitored frequently by a doctor, you would think it wouldnt be missed. Though I suppose anything is possible. Every case is different.
