Autistic children and "special passes" at amuzement parks

I found out that "some" places will accomodate children with special needs. They give you a pass and they are very helpful.

I am sure NOT all parks will be so accomodating (apparently Splish Splash is not!) but it's worth asking.

DS is NOT patient waiting in line and honestly pleasing my kid so he can also enjoy rides is more important than stares from people waiting in line.

Disney World does this. I read somewhere that you need a doctor's note to bring to Guest Services, but my parents took my brother one year and just asked for it and they gave it to them. He was 15 or 16 and although he is high-functioning he still doesn't do well with standing on lines. They only had to use it once during their stay, but it was great to have just in case!

From what I've read on NSASA, Hershey Park, Universal, WDW, Sesame, Sea World and Dutch Wonderland all offer a guest assistance pass. Oh AND Adventureland. I'm not sure about Great Adventure. I did bring a doctor's note with us to Universal, but didn't end up using it since there were hardly any lines.

Also, it's for pretty much any disability..physical or developmental. Doesn't just have to be autism.

That's great! I took Lance to Adventure Land a few weeks ago... It was awesome. There were no lines at all, and he loved the rides. We went on a Wed. afternoon.

yes, we just booked our sesame vacation and I asked them about this. They said to just bring a Dr note with you to guest relations and they give ds a bracelet to wear.

I also just read that Adventureland gives a discount in addition to a special needs pass, as much as 50%. Worth asking about when you go Chat Icon
