I have to say that Facebook has brought up some wonderful and not so wonderful memories for me. There are names I have come across that just stir up a lot of hurt feelings... and it's hard to avoid them because they are Facebook friends with some of my friends. So despite this being a great way to reconnect with people you like, it also has the potential to bring up things you thought you had moved beyond, just by simply seeing a name!

I completely agree with the pp’s – it is great tool to get back in touch with people who you haven’t spoken to in years but on the other hand it does bring up things that you thought you had moved beyond.
For me it has been both – I was able to reconnect with friends that I had lost touch with after college and now we are back in touch and talking again ad it reconnected me with my brother who I haven’t seen/spoken to in 12 yrs – which turns out to be a great thing that I now have him back in my life.
