Armed Teachers
How many, like me, plan to leave this profession if this passes?

I left in 2012 but I would absolutely leave if it became reality. And if it happens in DD's school, I will homeschool.
I worked with mostly great people but there were a few teachers who had issues and I would never want them near adults or kids with a gun. In fact, a teacher who worked in another school in my building once claimed he turned a computer into a bomb. We had to evacuate over 1000 kids and all the adults. Imagine if someone like him had a gun? And I worked with some very angry kids who would have liked the challenge of trying to disarm a teacher.

Agreed - there's no way the city that formally banned phones and has metal detectors in schools will allow teachers to be armed. And it'll never fly on LI either. If it does, I'll have to quit because my kids are getting homeschooled!
