anyone know how much it costs to get a cesspool pumped?
I dont know if this is a problem, but my DH just called me to say the water in the toilet overflowed and was all over the bathroom, and then the bowl flushed and all the water got sucked into the bowl 
does this sound like a cesspool problem?

It sound like it could be a cesspool problem...Call them and they will check to see if your cesspool is full or not. We have a really big cesspool and we had to get it pumped as an emergancy on a Sunday...it cost us almost $500.00

did he just finish using the bathroom, or did it do that on it's own????
one of the clear signs that your cesspool is going, is bubbling in the toilet after you've flushed, and the sewage literally backing up into your bathtub!!

i think he flushed it, the paper didnt' go down, so he flushed it again and it started to fill up the tank and spill over the sides and then the water left in the bowl got sucked back down!

i don't think it's the cesspool. sounds like maybe it was a backup.

This happened at my old apartment and it was a telltale sign that I had to get the landlords to get the cesspool pumped.

Does he know where it is? Sometimes the ground is soggy around the cesspool if it's really full or you can pull the top off and look into it....some tops have an opening to stick something in, like a stick, to see if it's full...You wouldn't catch me doing this though

It sounds to me like a backup...it went down and a cesspool wouldn't go down, it might go into the bathtub though.
