Anyone ever made a dog or puppy-shaped cake?
Sorry for crashing on parenting, but I figured you all might have some experience!
DH (yes you heard right, DH) has requested a cake in the shape of a dog or puppy for his birthday, I'm trying to find a good pattern or plan to make one....anyone have experience or photos to share?

Does Wilton make any puppy shaped pans? I'll check their website...they always have step-by-step instructions for decorating using their pans, it's so helpful!

thanks so much! That first one especially is great....I just need to figure out how to make it out of different shaped cakes

I looked on Wilton's website and they don't seem to sell a dog cake pan, which is odd!

Maybe you could just make a really big sheet cake and cut the shape from that. Use the left over scraps for details.

I have made more than one 9X13 cake and cut them up and pieced them together. No one will know it wasn't cut from one big cake when the icing is on it.

Yeah that's kind of what I want to do--my mom used to do this all the time for us when we were kids--she actually made a stegasaurus (sp?) cake for my brother once! I think I need to get some graph paper and map it out
