anyone ever experience this?
I've been complaining of a swollen gland in my groin area for a while now. Actually had a swollen gland in my other groin area back in November with these weird red dots - was told they were probably spider bites. Now I just woke up with a swollen left gland and have small red dots on the right side of my body. I have no idea what is going on, and last time I saw three doctors, they didn't have an answer for me!!

Re: anyone ever experience this?
I have had swollen glands in my armpits and groin but not with red dots. I would call a doctor today and if they say spider bites again I would go to a different doc. Feel better!

Re: anyone ever experience this?
dont mean to be gross, but could the red bumps be bed bug bites. When a friend had them they were clustered together on one side (the side she slept on)

Re: anyone ever experience this?
Thanks for the input. I really don't think it's bed bugs. Just too coincidental that I have a swollen glands again. It's only on my right side - did not cross over to the other side of my body at all.

Spider bites?
OK, I don't want to freak you out either, and it's probably not this, BUT:
About 3 years ago, my mom suddenly became extremely fatiqued and achey. She had remembered having a little what appeared to be a spider bite. To make a long story short, she ended up in the ER, then rushed into surgery. She almost DIED! She had like 2 blood transfusions and at one point, they couldn't stop her FROM bleeding. A blood specialist was rushed in, and was fortunately able to stop it. They were talking about transporting her via helicopter to NYPH in Manhattan at one point. She made it through that then had to go through about a week or so of dialysis.
When it was all said and done, the doctor thinks it was related to the spider bite.
Don't mess around with this stuff, because you never know, and this was probably the scariest situation I dealt with, at one point, getting the phone call from the nurse to come to the hospital with her last will and testament......

Re: anyone ever experience this?
I know..........I realized after I wrote that all out that I sound overly dramatic, but I just want to give a worst case scenario. I know she initially saw her PCP for the fatique and he said she was probably just coming down with the flu. A few more days went by before she finally went to the ER and I can't imagine if she would have waited what could happen. It does pay sometimes to get a second opinion ;).

Re: anyone ever experience this?
Thanks for your input - Your mom's story was definitely scary!
Don't even know if this is possible but...
Could this be something viral that is "coming out" with stress? The last time it happened and this time it happened were two times that I am very stressed and worried - more so than I can ever remember. Can stress do this to you?

What you wrote above sounds like Shingles to me...adult version of chicken pox.
I had it about 4 years ago. Started with swollen glands in the groin area, but also behind my ears (my lymph nodes there always swell when I get sick). I also had red bumps that appeared to be bites mostly around my stomach and down the insides of my thighs. My DR diagnosed it as shingles and put me on a strong anti-viral. I was at home for 2 weeks with it b/c she told me that I could have transferred the chicken pox to anyone who had never had it before.
Shingles apparently don't go away and they definitely come out under stress. Some outbreaks are more severe b/c of higher levels of stress.
I'd raise it as a possible cause with your docs. Have you ever had chicken pox?

Re: anyone ever experience this?
or... don't mean to be alarmist... but could it be lymphoma or some other lymphatic problem? swollen glands (particularly in areas like the armpit or groin) are signs. i would get it checked out ASAP

Re: anyone ever experience this?
I initally went to three doctors - and EACH one told me something different First one said shingles, the dermatologist said DEFINITELY not shingles and that it could be a "bite" and the third said he didn't think it was either of those things, and wasn't sure. It went away (the swollen gland in the groin and the red dots) and now the red dots are in the same spot they originally were and some on my legs and stomach/arm area. I had my school nurse look, and she said it doesn't look like shingles to her at all. I have had the chicken pox though. I am EXTREMELY stressed at the moment and this showed up again. I don't know who to see since I've been to three doctors already with no answers!!

Re: anyone ever experience this?
Jut because you had chicken pox doesn't mean you can't get shingles. My mom had them and it first started off small like yours and then turned into full blown covering most of her body.

Oh I know. Having chicken pox makes you prone to shingles.
I wish a $#%^ doctor would give me a straight answer!!

Re: anyone ever experience this?
I had this different part of body though, and they even did a cat scan to rule anything bad out, and said they swell after you have a cold or trauma (stress included, and lack of a lot of sleep) its kinda a natural reaction, but most people don't notice it. Dr. can give you antibotic and it will take care of it in a few days, but don't worry to bad. I'd def have it checked with the Dr. but from what happened with me, I'd say no worries.

I've been sick with a sinus/ear infection for about a month - finally starting to feel better. I definitely haven't been "healthy" in a while. Plus, I am under a great deal of stress, which probably isn't helping the situaiton.
