Yeah, that's the big draw with Uber. It's supposed to be safer for the driver and passenger as no cash is exchanged and each driver/passenger has an account.
I took an amazing Uber the other day- it was just a regular black towncar, but the driver had an iphone charger hooked up to use, small water bottles, magazines, snacks. It was so nice.

True but as a woman driver, I'd worry about rape, etc more so than getting mugged.

True but as a woman driver, I'd worry about rape, etc more so than getting mugged.
I have had a bunch of female drivers, I guess its a risk but I feel the people using it really need a ride and if they are going to rape or kill someone why go through the trouble of using uber, because its all very traceable

I didn't know that about money! Pretty cool.
But then instead I would be worried about: being raped, being mugged for whatever personal belongings I had, or just being killed by a nut for no reason!

Looked into doing this PT last year but I dont drive any of the cars they want you to drive (my car is a 4 door compact sedan that has over 50K miles), plus theres a ton of competition,(avg hourly wage is only $8-11/hr) and more drivers in certain spots than others.
My friends DH did Uber for a few weeks but was losing fares because 70% of the trips were going to/from airports..drivers have reported of other drivers scooping in at certain popular pick up spots and stealing their ride...it does take a toll on your car and you better hope a drunk passenger doesnt puke all over your backseat.

out of about 15 drivers this past weekend in ATL, only one was a woman.
we had 2 ghetto uber XLs with 200000+ miles . One of them (a coworker was in) uberXL ran 2 people over with them in the car. like over the hood, missing teeth after, ambulances come type running over. OMG.
all the drivers said they quit early to avoid puking customers (10/11 PM)

See I thought your car had to have under a certain number of miles on it for you to be able to use it.

one of them told us it was under 7 yrs but didnt say anything about mileage. maybe each city is different?

I feel like each city is different. In NYC ive never had a bad car or driver. You are treated like you are in a car service. In ATL I had two older vehciles, not the best kept, or cleanest. Drivers were fine, but it was odd coming from NY where the driver offered bottled water and mints lol

Anyone an uber driver ?
When I served on the grand jury in Suffolk, I heard multiple cases involving female cab drivers getting sexually assaulted and raped. It always stayed with me. I imagine Uber might be a bit different, because the clientele needs to be tech savvy and have credit cards and such, but there's no way as a female I would do it.

Anyone an uber driver ?
I wouldn't do it myself, but I think it's great for people who want to do it and I'm a big supporter of it. I think it's so ridiculous that some areas have banned it (like near me, Cambridge MA banned it). I've spoken to many drivers who love it and make good money.
