am I the only grinch mommy who hides DC toys?

This is the second year in a row that I'm hiding DS Xmas gifts. He gets so many great things, but I know if he opens them all at once he'll be done with them in a month. So I let him unwrap everything, let him open the stuff he's really into, and then I hide the rest. I give him something new when he gets bored of what's out. Last year he was getting new toys until June.

I do this too! She gets so many things and gets so overwhelmed so I just put away a few of the gifts and she'll get something new every month or so. I think otherwise, she would just ignore certain toys because there are so many of them.

Nope, I hid a whole bunch of them. He just got TOO many.

I have a bunch of them in the basement - it's too overwhelming and he can't possibly play with all the toys at once!

I do this too and I actually had stuff from last christmas which has not been opened yet

nope we do the same thing. It would be a zoo if they opened every new toy they got.

I hide them too. I only set up a few for Christmas morning. The rest are still in boxes in my office.

I do the same exact thing. these toys need to last her until june when she has her birthday.

we do this too. Jack still has stuff from his birthday in Sept that he hasn't even played with yet. This should all stretch out until his next b-day

I feel like we need to buy a house just for his toys

I put some away also.. this way she doesnt get bored with them quickly.. plus keeps her from getting overwhelmed with all the toys

Nope, you aren't the only one!

I only opened up maybe 4 toys Nikolas got for Christmas. Everything else went into storage for now. I too am still gradually giving him things that he'd gotten for his birthday in October --- so Christmas was overkill

And funny enough as much as he likes the new things he STILL goes back to the old things more often anyhow

Nope, I do this every year. My kids were still opening gifts from last year a couple of weeks ago. I ended up giving a couple of unopened things to Nate's daycare bc they out grew them.

They still have 2 more rounds of gifts with DH's siblings tomorrow and my family in Jan.

No. I plan to do the same if I can sneak them away. She's a smart cookie and I think she's kept an inventory already of what she got.

I've hidden quite a few. No shame in doing it either. 3 kids + christmas gifts = way too much stuff for my small house. My kids received a few items from a relative out of state that I know aren't their style. They'd open them but quickly but them aside so I hid them before they even open them. they haven't even missed them.

I didn't do this this year because DS is only 6 months. But I do see myself stealing this idea by the time his birthday rolls around.

nope..I did the same thing this year! DS received WAY TOO MANY toys!

nope, aside from small things that have a place like DVD's and books major toys have been put into rubbermaid tubs and were brought down into the basement. This house is just way too small and with no playroom every room gets overwhelmed with toys. I already broke a few new ones by stepping on them!

I do it too and would be lying if I told you all that I didn't rewrap them for birthdays or next Christmas! ha ha!

Nope. I bought gifts so he would have a "big christmas" but put some away immediately.

I always put quite a few things "away" in the closet so that when she is bored of the stuff she has...I can bring out the "new things".

I have also been known to "hide" annoying toys that tend to drive me crazy and go off all by themselves. In fact, hidden in the ottoman are the following....Laugh N Learn Puppy, a disney puzzle that makes a lot of noise and a stuffed animal from one of the aunts that plays the most annoying song on the face of the earth

With her birthday and xmas both in December, I have to. She really didn't get that much, but I like to spread them out over the year.

Nope, I have a box of things that we'll re-introduce in February - we can pretend it's Christmas again. And then his birthday is in March so I assume I'll be hiding things again. We'll be celebrating for a while
