Adults-only restaurant section

DH and I stopped at Red Robin for a quick bite today. Easily 10 people waiting outside and another 10 or so waiting inside for a table. As we waited to speak to the hostess, I noticed a sign near the bar area that read, "21 and over only" and the bar area had quite a few free tables. I asked for a table in the bar area and DH and I were seated right away while all of the others had to wait. Chat Icon

Anyone know of other places that have similar adults-only sections?

Interesting. I guess that's a sneaky way of getting an adult only area, since there's alcohol around. Chat Icon

I've never seen one, myself.

Never saw that either but will look for it. I wonder if olive garden has it where the bar is.

Yeah I went with my DH, DS who is 14 and sone friends and while we waited my DS wasnt even allowed to drink a soda at the bar ... he was so thirsty but they made him stand like 2 feet away while drinking his soda & my DH even gog a beer.. I think that's rediculous if he is with his parents there shouldnt be an issue

No one under 21 should be In a bar...it's the law and I love any restaurant that enforces this!!!

Weird. I have been to plenty of restaurants and was able to sit in bar area with kids.

I can see a traditional bar having such a rule - but a place like red robin surprises me.

You were at the BAR area of a restaurant....Children are not allowed to be served at a BAR....in a restaurant or not.

I've seen this in other states. I've also been to restaurants where anyone under 21 was not allowed after 9pm. I'm all for it! I love kids and can't wait to have my own but a bar, even one in a restaurant, is no place for a child or teenager. There are waiting areas outside of the bar area in restaurants.

Re: Adults-only restaurant section

I didn't know it was a law not to have children sit at bar in a restaurant. Not like the kids are drinking booze. I see nothing wrong with a child sitting with their parents drinking and eating a bar. The parents can easily have a cocktail when they are seated at the table. I seen no difference.

It not about the parent drinking its about a CHILD taking a seat where an adult patron can sit and have a drink.

I really dont understand where its ok for children to be everywhere....children dont belong everywhere....
