A dramatic morning, a happy ending, and a small LIF world!!!
So, this morning at 7, I drop the ferret off at Commack emergency like they said I could last night. The woman at the front looked at me like I had 2 heads. She told me to wait and she would find out if they could take the ferret. after 30 minutes, I left the ferret there, figuring if they couldn't keep him they would call me.
Sure enough, I get a call saying they can't take him, and if I don't get him they will euthanize him!!!!
I dash back, and wonder what the heck I'm going to do. On the way over I call shelters, the police, to no avail. I'm crying and driving around with this ferret. Finally, I figure if he's going to stay with me, I may as well get him a water bottle, hammock, toys, and a litter pan.
I go to pet supplies plus, and brought him in with me. All of a sudden, I decide to speak to the 2 women who worked there. I told them I found him, and they were both ferret owners. They fell in love with him. One was the manager and had 2 ferrets, and said she would hang onto him until the owner showed up.... and if we never heard from the owner, she would keep him!!!! We all felt he was too friendly and sweet to be abandoned all of a sudden. Again, I start crying (I got AF later that day ) and thank the manager profusely. We exchange numbers, and I leave with my heart rejoicing...
I thought the story was over there, but right after my stepdaughter's graduation, I saw a strange number on my phone.
It was the ferret's owner.... He got my number from commack animal emergency... As I'm telling him the story, he says "I know - I heard!" I'm like because I didn't tell them in commack. He said, "I know Dawn!" (lvsdolphins!)
So, its amazing how a lost ferret can still bring me back to a LIF connection. It was a very happy ending and a perfect way to wrap up a weekend!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe that--seriously, what are the odds??!!!!!!!
I'm so happy that this story had a happy ending for everyone involved! Good thing you posted!

I tried texting you! I must have the wrong number. I was like "Please call me when you have a chance".
The owner is my sisters ex/boyfriend/ DS' dad. He had my nephew over there today and they were searching all AM for the ferrett. My sister (Nancy6485) who posts here called me right away and said "Dawn...we went to Barnes N Noble with Lipglossjunky..Liza...Right"..LOL "Umm yea like 6 months ago" and she's Like "Please..Call her..Call her"...
I tried. Nancy contacted the owner and he took over from there!
Liza, we all (including my 3 year old nephew) Thank You So Much! You are TRULY amazing!!!!
