Those that had covid...

How long until you felt good enough to exercise again?

I just came out of isolation yesterday. I still get tired easily. I used to go running 3 times a week and work out and I don't want to push it. But I also want to get back into it too...

So just curious. TIA!

Re: Those that had covid...

It took a while for me, at least 4-6 weeks after I was technically better. I was winded and very fatigued for weeks after and until that got better working out was a challenge.

Hope you feel better. Chat Icon

Those that had covid...

I’m on a moms running group and a lot of the women have had it. I’d say it took most several weeks to get back into working out.

Months. Literally months.
Everyone is different. Give your body the time it needs.

It may take a while.

I know someone very fit that ran every day and lifted about 25 pound weights. Now she can do about 8 lbs....It's like starting all over. (not vaccinated though)

But everyone is different obviously.

Ironically I think that there have been some studies about people who are super fit being much more susceptible to long covid. I didn't have any respiratory issues with covid so I think that's why I was completely fine and also, while I run a lot I am not in crazy great shape.

Interesting! What makes a fit person more susceptible to covid?

I don't know I never actually read the studies. But I do know that a friend of mine who is an avid biker suffered from long covid for about 6 months. It was bad.

I think she meant susceptible to longstanding symptoms of Covid. This is totally not scientific in any capacity but it is odd that anyone I know who is a distance runner who had Covid had a very hard time getting back into that distance running. My SIL was just saying over the weekend that this was first time she was able to run 8 miles since she had Covid back in February. She was supposed to run a marathon 2 weeks ago but was unable to get the stamina to train.

But that's probably because if I got Covid I wouldn't know that I couldn't run my 8 miles like I used to because I have never run 8 miles in my life anyway so I have nothing to compare it to.
People who are athletic feel the difference because they try to go back to it. People who don't work out move on with their Doritos and couch sitting like nothing ever happened because couch sitting doesn't take any effort anyway

Don't forget those that have trouble getting back to their routine of walking on the treadmill. I'm sure that's incredibly taxing as well.
