Can we discuss This is Us *spoilers*
I was totally confused at first... I'm sure like everyone else. I kept saying, This is Who?
I like how it came together and how baby Jack turns out to be a huge mix of his grandparents Jack and Rebecca.
Wonder how the story will play with the woman Vet in AA. Thinking her and Kevin may get together.
Loved Deja story too with the guy. See how that plays out.

I know the first 40 minutes or so I was like - wow I really forgot a lot from last season.....
I also think the AA vet and Kevin will get together - I wonder if at the end of last season when there was a boy at Kevin's future home if that was her son... hmmm
I was surprised at the end when Rebecca's Dad was talking to Jack- i thought after the tag in the jacket he was on his side...

I hated this episode to be honest. I missed the big three and everyone with them. and they didn't summarize last season very well in the beginning recap. I just didn't care for any of the new characters in fact I really dislike the actress that plays the veteran. Plus I found the whole Jack meeting Rebecca's parents scenes unbearable. I liked the last 5 minutes, where we saw all the familiar faces and everything with the new characters got tied up in a bow!

I agree.
I felt a bit the same. I was happy when they showed the original characters at the end finally.

I loved the episode. Yes, was definitely confused at first, regarding all the new characters, but loved the way a lot of it came together in the end. LOVED the song (Toby & Kate's son) Jack wrote and sang. And the smile on Deja's face when she got home from the BBQ. Very excited to see how things unfold over this season

I kind of knew that was their son jack. Between the singing and the fact that he reminded me , looks wise, of Kevin. I thought “they are probably in the future again” I remember he was a preemie and they said he may have challenges.
I love this show. I love the writers. I can watch it all day. Sometimes wish it was a Netflix special so I could binge it

I felt the same way I did not like this episode. At one point I thought I was watching a different show. Hopefully the season will get better.

I really liked the episode. I was just going along with it and not trying to overthink who the new characters were. I was surprised in finding out the blind character was baby Jack. Turns out he is blind in real life, which makes it much more authentic. He looks eeriely like Kevin. In fact at the start I wondered if they had a new actor playing his part.

I liked baby Jack. Other than that, I agree with everything. So disappointed that they hired that actress.

It was ok. I felt like it was all over the place. But as someone else mentioned I just tried to go along with it and not try to figure it out. I figured they would end the episode with an explanation.

Love that they hired a blind actor for this role and not someone playing a blind character.

I don't think that is her son. The future scene is probably about 20 years from now, so that boy would be a lot older in those scenes.

i actually really liked it and how it all came together in the end. im not thrilled that Deja is gonna get involved with a baby daddy at her age. But like Malek's dad said, his wife saved him, so maybe Deja will save Malek.

I agree.
I felt a bit the same. I was happy when they showed the original characters at the end finally.
I didn't love it either. As usual, I feel like they always over-hype their own episodes and in the end, they are often so boring.
The tie-in was fine however, I think that would have been a MUCH better episode 3 or 4, not a season opener. It would have been better IMO to start off the season with the regulars and catch up since last season, not start something new.

He doesn’t seem like a stereotypical “baby daddy” but rather a teen father who is very involved and has a good support system. I wonder if Deja knows he has a daughter. I’m dying to see Randall’s reaction lol
