When will the pain go away!? Wisdom teeth extraction

Please tell me when this will go away. It's worse on the third day. I have been taking the pain meds but they make me sick to my stomach. I was up all night. How long will I honestly be feeling this way? ANy ideas? TIA

i had this, getting worse as the days went on. it ended up being dry socket. definitely call your dentist and complain- i had to fight with them to treat me because i didnt have the traditional symptoms.

Mine took like 2 weeks. I was popping 8 advil a day. Clean out the holes a lot each day. Having food stuck in there makes it worse.

The pain is horrible. Absolutely horrible. But it does go away.

you'll get through it. It sucks though.

I didn't have a bad experience with mine, but I wanted to tell you to make sure you eat with the pain meds- it makes a big difference.
I know you probalby can't eat much but even some yogurt or milk or ANYTHING to coat your belly.

Maybe that will help

Feel better!

One more thing--I assumed I had dry socket because the pain was getting worse as the days went on. It wasn't, it was just the way I healed.

Mine just stopped hurting after 2 weeks. If you can't take the pain meds you can take up to 6 advil every 4 hrs...I usualy took 3-4 and like AP said-definitely eat before taking them

I had a horrible experience with this and the pain (and swelling) lasted about 2 weeks. I had a horrible reaction to the pain meds too so I could only take Tylenol Chat Icon

Hope it passes quickly!

I think they say the second day is the worst. But, if the pain is now getting worse and not better you probably have dry socket -- which to me was worse than the actual toothache.

You might want to try and get back to the oral surgeon before the weekend comes and have them check it out. Good luck!!Chat Icon

Mine took about a week before I was comfortable again. But I definitely agree with what another poster said - take the pain meds and don't forget to eat!

aside from being 'sore' you shouldn't be in any pain.

If you are in 'pain' you probably have dry socket. Call the dentist IMMEDIATELY and invest in a bottle of clove oil sold at CVS in an 'emergency dental kit'. It's a lifesaver.

dry socket is something you can get from ANY tooth extraction.

if you follow their instructions strictly you SHOULD NOT have a problem.

when you get a tooth pulled you shouldn't brush your teeth for the rest of the day.

along with:

no sucking through straws or making sucking pressure like slurping soup or anything
no hot beverages
no smoking
no spitting
no swishing
no rinsing

don't touch it! don't mess with it.

just leave it be with as little aggravation to the site as possible. lots of ice. if you have to eat... make it something soft like jello or pudding.

Did you have all 4 pulled?
Did you have any pulled from your bottom set of teeth?

I was in a lot of pain after I got my bottom teeth pulled and then sore for about too weeks bc I clench my jaw while I'm sleeping so all of the pressure was being places on my jaw bone from which the teeth were just pulled.

Feel better.

I notice that I have been clenching my jaw at night, that prob doesntnhelp. I got three pulled. One on the bottom and twonon the top. He refused to pull one because it was too risky. I'm happy he didnt pull it now lol. Ugh Chat Icon

I was in awful pain for the first week and i didn't have dry socket. The acute, terrible pain went away at the 1 week mark. At that point, I was comfortable without taking pain meds.
