Any ways to lower my Optimum bill?
I have a triple play w/a DVR box, HBO (and Demand), Encore, and Starz. We pay about $200/month. I looked at the Silver package which is $90/month and it has different movie channels.
Is there anything I can do to lower the bill? Can I get rid of the phone (we never use it anyway)?

I would...but Fios isn't even available in Brookhaven so I don't think thats a plausible argument

Re: Any ways to lower my Optimum bill?
I actually called them a few months ago just asking to remove the phone service. That was enough to renogotiate a deal for around $99.00 a month. This was their suggestion. I know it's going to go up again though because I just added HBO again because of Big Love. The cost of cable sux!

Yeah, I think its a huge rip to go from the $99 Triple Play to $200 for the same stuff! Crazeballs! I have had them for 4 years now w/o any bill complaints, but we're getting ready to buy a house in the next year or so and I'd like to save whatever I can.

You can do a Double Play package without the phone. We had it for a while.

Re: Any ways to lower my Optimum bill?
I wish I knew. We pay 143 for the triple play w. dvr.
We fought with them to give us a discount. They really weren't going to budge. My DH had to call a few times to finally get someone to work with us. I think it was because we were moving and they knew the town we were moving to had FIOS. Either way we got the bill to stay the same for an extra year and didn't have to pay installation fees when we moved.
We are seriously considering switching to FIOS since our triple play deal will be going up in March.
It's so insane the amount we pay for cable.

When you call, you must call the cancellation department. Regular customer service can't help you.

Re: Any ways to lower my Optimum bill?
Every year we have to call with an order from DirecTV threatening to leave. They ask to see the DirecTV order, we show it, they lower our rate back down to where it was the year before.
My husband actually said to them, "Do you realize we go through this every year, and every year I get my way." They had no answer to this.
I can't wait till we can get FIOS!

Re: Any ways to lower my Optimum bill?
Cancel your service, then they will harass you with non-stop phone calls & e-mails on a regular basis. DH & I had triple play with DVR, HBO, Cinemax & Starz + on demand for almost 5 years. After the first years out bill went up to over $250/month. I would call on a regular basis, pleading with them to offer a better deal. Well we got so fed up with their horrible service & how expensive it was that DH called FIOS & switched.
Ever since we switched a rep calls our house at least once a week. DH doesn't answer but when for some odd reason I have been home, I flip out on them. Lets see how long this keeps up.
