What is considered a "fever" for a 4 year old?

My son had a belly ache this morning and threw up. He was then fine all day, then just threw up again. He is fine now - eating, jumping around, being normal. His fever is hovering between 99 and 99.5. Is that a fever, or could it just be higher from all the activities of the day?

WOW thats a new one. I never even heard of that. SO I can not say if it is dead on or off a little. Like I said check in and hour, if it goes up then I would say yes he might have something. But if it stays the same or goes down, your in the clear. Hope dc feels better soon! Also check it while he is resting, less chance of temp being off. Chat Icon

From Dr. Sears website-

WHAT TEMPERATURE CONSTITUTES A FEVER?

* Normal temperature – 97 to 99 degrees (36 to 37.2 Celcius).
* Low-grade fever – 99 to 100.9 degrees (37.3 to 38.3 Celcius).
* Common fever – 101 to 103.5 degrees (38.4 to 39.7 Celcius).
* High fever – any fever over 103.6 degrees (39.8 Celcius).
