Quick question-- Mylanta for 2 year old (or around)?
Anyone give it?
In follow-up to my post the other day about DD vomiting in her sleep the last 6 nights following the stomach bug last week, went to the ped today and he said nothing he can really pinpoint, maybe a sour stomach/reflux as a result of the stomach virus.
So he suggested maybe some Children's Mylanta (1 tsp). Well, they don't have a Children's Mylanta in the CVS I went to, so I just bought the REGULAR STRENGTH (not Extra/Super strength) of the regular Mylanta...guess I'll try it tonight. He said if the vomiting isn't better in a few days (w/o using Mylanta obviously), to go back in.
We're desparate for relief for her. Anyone use Mylanta? Did you have Children's Mylanta?
ETA: I just googled Children's Mylanta and all that comes up is these chewable tablets, which DD would NEVER eat anyway. I'm soooo paranoid about giving her something not "child"...but the dosage for the bottle of regular Mylanta I have is 2-4 tsps and doc said to only do 1 tsp, so it is less.

i wouldnt give without checking with the ped first. Just bc the dosage is less doesnt mean its OK. Most of the time, the concentration/levels of medicine are different. So 1tsp of adult, may not be 1 tsp of child...you know? Thats just me, Im super type A when it comes to medicine.

I agree!! Put a call into your doc right now and see if you can get an answer before C goes down for the night.

C, I sorta agree...BUT if you can't reach your ped; try calling CVS or the pharmacy at another drug store & see what they say re: dosage.

Put in a call to the ped right after I posted Just heard back. He (different ped) said they stopped making the Children's Mylanta b/c it's pretty much the same strength/etc as regular. So yes, the regular-strength that I got is fine, anywhere from 1-1.5tsp is good.
Thanks ladies

Mylanta , regular is fine for kids.
We have been giving it to Chloe per her Pediatric GI since she was 6 weeks old.
HE said use the regular adult, not kids one, they dont need all the added flavor in the kids one.
We give 1 and 1/2 ml twice a day ...so I would think a full dropper would be fine.

We gave Mylanta to Bella from the beginning and Lola's been on it since the beginning as well.
Just make sure it's regular.
Our Ped suggested this.
