5 year old with Anxiety - Therapist rec
my DD has always had some sort of anxiety, but lately it's getting worse and more debilitating.
Does anyone have a recommendation of a therapist in the Huntington area?

You could ask your pediatrician for a list. Or if she is in Kindergarten, the school psych should have a list. Some therapists don't work with children that young so you'll want someone who deals with children.

thanks - i called my pediatrician - all their recommendations dont take insurance (which is REALLY frustrating!). Not sure i wanted to go through school, dont want it "on record" at this point...if that makes sense.

Try the NYU Child Study Center in Lake Success or NYC. one of their specialties is anxiety and they work exclusively with children and parents.

Not in the area but maybe contact the Cody Center at Stony Brook. Dr Carlson has seen everything.

I work in a school as a psych and if a parent asks for a list of referrals we typically do not put that on any sort of record or make a note of it unless the child is having problems in the school. There are enough kids to keep notes on! LOL
