Baby jogger City Select Stroller- Moms of 2+ pls come in, need advice

My DH and I have been scouring the internet and stores to try to find the perfect double stroller. We had been leaning towards a side by side (my DD will be 21 months when my second DD is born) but we live in Queens in an apartment building with fairly narrow doors/elevators. I just saw yesterday a review for the new Baby Jogger City Select stroller that has multiple configurations and can go from a single stroller to a double and can carry a car seat, bassinet or regular seat. There are 16 potential configurations, these are some of my favs:

Also, how did it close? It looks like the Bugaboo which is a PITA to close bc you have to remove the seat so I'm wondering if this is the same way or if it somehow folds flat like the City Mini.

I'm so going to check it out this weekend!

Check out the youtube video in the original post, the lady goes through it. I don't think she had to remove the seat.

Another thing I like, is once my oldest is too big or doesn't want to sit in the stroller, you can get a standing board for the back.

If they would've had this stroller when I had my second or third children, I would've gotten it in a heartbeat!

I'm going there today to check it out and register for it, but someone else was there earlier in the week and said they had it set up with the second seat.

Unfortunately I didnt see her ever close it with the two seats on there, just the one. I wonder if it works the same as the single fold or if the second seat has to come off. So far it looks perfect to me though!

Re: Baby jogger City Select Stroller- Moms of 2+ pls come in, need advice

I saw this stroller yesterday at BBB in huntington. They did not have it set up with the second seat but they took it off of another and showed me how it worked. It looks really cool but there were a few things I didn't like. It only comes with one seat for $499 and then you have to buy an additional seat for $169 for second DC. Since I'm looking for a double right now, that's a lot of dough and every single item is additional. If you are buying it now for a single with the intention of using it in a few years as double, maybe that's not so bad. The sales guy also showed me how to close it and said you can close it with the first seat in, but it's easier to close without it. It felt easy to steer but I didn't put DH in and it didn't have the second child (either in a car seat or regular seat) so I guess it's hard to tell.
I know it just came out, but I'd love to hear reviews from anyone who already uses it as a double. I think I still may be leaning towards the citi mini double.

Okay ladies, I just got back from checking out this stroller at BBB. I am now a pro at this thing! Chat Icon I'm PG with my first but we're planning on a second DC soon after Chat Icon is born, which is why I so intent on getting this stroller.

Here's what I learned:
-you cannot close stroller with 2 seats attached, but it literally takes 2 seconds for rumble seat to come off
-seats can be facing each other, both facing forward, both facing you, or back to back.
-both seats can be reclined all the way if they're facing you. You gain the most room between the 2 seats with them facing you
-folds very flat with 1 seat facing out, not as flat if 1 seat is facing you - VERY easy to fold!
-both seats have 45lb capacity, versus Uppa Baby Vista (50lbs for main seat, 33lbs for rumble)
-has telescoping handle
-basket is HUGE, but not quite as accessible as Vista
-when both seats are facing forward, the child in the back can see out, as opposed to looking at the back of the seat in front of them like the Vista
-it is 5 pounds heavier than the Vista

IMO, this is a MUCH better configuration for parents of 2 kids. The Uppa Baby Vista has very little room between the 2 seats, and 2 seats can only be used in the forward facing position with no recline on either.

Feel free to FM me with any questions!

Re: Baby jogger City Select Stroller- Moms of 2+ pls come in, need advice

Hi Ladies,

I have been using the Baby Jogger City Select for the past few weeks and wanted to clarify a few things. I am the one in the video review :) BTW - I also personally use an Uppa Baby VISTA with the Rumbleseat with my 2 youngest kids and have been for a while. So, I am very familiar with both strollers.

First, the City Select CAN be folded with both seats attached. The seats have to be facing forward (and not reclined) but it can be done rather easily. There is a picture of the folded stroller with two seats attached on our blog: http://www.ratedbymom.com/2010/01/baby-jogger-city-select-photos/ The Uppa cannot be folded with the Rumbleseat attached but like the pp said - it comes off very easily in seconds!

Second, I love that the City Select has a 45 lb weight limit PER seat. My son is outgrowing the Rumbleseat on the Uppa so I am going to have to put the 6 month old in the Rumbleseat and move the older child to the main seat. Not crazy about doing this because the Rumbleseat doesn't recline for the 6 month old and he naps often. :)

Third, yes, there is more room between the seats of the City Select than the Uppa and it doesn't seem much longer than the Uppa.

Fourth, my middle child (just turned 3) doesn't necessarily like to ride in a stroller but needs to because he is a "runner". He likes the Uppa but the variety of seating options on the City Select keeps him in the stroller longer. When he gets antsy or bored - we move the seats around and it is like a game :)

That all being said - I LOVE both strollers! The City Select does have more versatility with seating options but it can be a pricey purchase with all the accessories.

Hope this helps!

I think I love youChat Icon THANK YOU SO MUCH for the recap! I am bringing my DD there this weekend and sitting her in the seat to make sure she is comfy and if she is, I am buying it! Was it 499 there too? I want to get the best price so I am scouring the web to make sure I pay as little as possible.Chat Icon

Edited to add that I found quite a few sites that offer free shipping and no sales tax!

Yes, it's $499 at BBB, and the extra seat was $159. They have onyx and ruby in stock at Westbury location, but I'm not sure about the diamond color. Good luck! I played around with it for about 40 minutes and LOVED it!

Good job finding the no sales tax! Too bad you can't use a coupon on it at BBB. Chat Icon

In this video, the guy shows you it CAN be folded with 2 seats as long as they are facing forward (like the PP said...)
