3rd Trim ladies (and everyone really), need tips on giving urine sample.
I know, random request. Today I had to give my urine sample like I normally do at every appt but now my belly is officially too big to see what the hell I'm doing.  Any tips? Totally gross but I ended up peeing all over my hand, it was a disaster.

I have been having some issues too. I usually hold it right against me in what I think is the right place-then wait to hear it go into the cup. No real advice I guess

I posted something similar a few weeks ago! I pretty much do what melijane does! At this point in my pregnancy, this is what I dread the most at my Dr. visits!
Men have it so easy.. .point, aim and shoot!

With last pregnancy I pressed the cup against body and hoped for the best. The clean urine catches tho.. those are difficult.. b/c you cant do that to get a clean reading.

Thanks ladies...you'd think they'd have a different way for us to do it once we get to a certain belly size. ( I don't know what way that would be, but there has to be an easier solution).

only other way for us would be to sit on a bucket like they make you do in the hospital after and need to have your urine checked for stones.. I had to do this last pregnancy when i had hydronephrosis.. and wanted to rule out kidney stones.

i would start peeing and then place the cup in the stream. it's not foolproof - you'll still sometimes get it on your hand  - but i always found that it was better than going in blindly

i normally sqat over the toilet, start my urine flow, tip the cup into the urine flow, and remove it...
works for me..

I start peeing, then stop, place cup where it needs to be-- basically against my body, then let loose. I can also still see though... but that is what works for me and I avoid my hands and a messy cup usually.

my best advice would be to load up on water before your appt, so that even if you don't position the cup correctly right from the start, you can still catch a stream while emptying your bladder.
i had the exact opposite happen to me, i went to the bathroom before my appt (duh!) and then when i was asked to pee in the cup, i had an empty bladder. the very little that i was able to provide, half of it was wasted cause i couldn't see where i was "aiming" i was a mess, i def learned from that mistake!! lol

Also don't worry about peeing on your hand-its sterlie! My problem is my belly is huge so I can't see at all. I have dropped the cup IN the toilet a few times. I curse up a storm-they can probably hear me through their little pee collection door

this is too funny. I'm so glad I'm not the only one. You should have seen me. I was trying so hard to see underneath my belly between my legs I thought I was going to fall off the toilet. Thank god they had a bar next to it or I would have def. fallen off. I couldn't believe that I'm at the point where I just can't see anything...and I know it's only going to get worse. 
Next time I'm going to try just holding it against me and hoping for the best. We'll see how that goes.
