How do you find faith when nothing goes right?

My dh has been looking for a job for over month now (he is working VERY part time) and he goes to interviews and they all sound promising, but nothing.

I believe there is a reason for everything and that God has a plan for all of us and things will happen when they are supposed to but HOW do you get back to having faith when it is one disappointment after another??

I'm gonna say something that might sound stupid.

You don't have to find faith. Faith is.

We cry and we grieve and we get angry. We worry and we fret. And maybe we even act impulsively and say regretful things.

But Faith waits silently for you to catch a glimpse. And when you finally stop and breathe and look around you find yourself surrounded by blessings. They are always there - but sometimes it's like a light just goes on and you remember them. And when you start to notice them - more appear. And Faith shines out from the same spot it always was.

I will say a prayer for your family in hopes that things get better more quickly!



ETA: I know how it feels to have a husband out of work in uncertain times like this. Rob has been laid off since early June. He isn't working at all and it's going to be an interesting Christmas.. But the good side? He's become insanely close to our kids and we don't go batty looking for babysitters on school holidays.

1st off
that is what faith is...holding out hope for something unseen and just trusting that God is in control despite what is before you. Dont take your eyes off him even when its the easiest thing to do. I hope your DH finds something soon!!!

I just keep going.

I allow myself a little bit of anger, a little sadness, a little crying and then I just keep going. I figure out how to deal with it as it comes--it's hard enough to worry about the present, let alone the future, so I just take it one minute at a time, one hour at a time, one day at a time. I am the type of person that, when faced with trying times, is the strong one, is the do-er, is the calm one. I truly believe there's nothing worse that can happen, I truly believe things will turn around. I keep that belief no matter what.

I just have to keep going and take it one day at a time and I know it will get better. And it will for you too

"Lord, You told me when I decided to follow You, You would walk and talk with me all the way. But I'm aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints. I just don't understand why, when I need You most, You leave me."

He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you."

I could have written this myself! I am going through something similar right now (except DH has only been looking for a week). On top of DH being laid off, FIL was just laid off, my mother is going for surgery... when it rains, it pours! Everyone is telling me to cheer up because things can only get better from here; that I need to have faith because everything always works out for the best. Right now, all I can see is my little girl that I have to find a way to buy Christmas gifts for & the fact that we have another one on the way to support. I just don't know where to find faith right now. I don't know how to be positive when all I feel is fear, anxiety, & sadness. I hope your DH finds a job soon. You will be in my prayers

I try to remember that God has a plan for us all and someday it will all make sense.
