Banging legs down in sleep.....

Does anyone else's baby do this.......

When Todd Jr is moving around in his sleep, he lifts his legs up a lot then bangs them down, he keeps doing this till he gets comfy I guess, then goes to sleep. It freaks me out cause it sounds so loud on the mattress, and I don't know if its something normal he's doing, Julia never did that.

I was asking DH if I should call the Dr or not about this--lol

DS did that and I used to get freaked out too. Once I got use to it, I took it as a sign that he was on his was to a nice sound sleep. He started around 4 months and did it for a while. DD does it took sometimes.

Jacen has done this since he was probably about 2 months old. He's 4 months old now and now that he's getting stronger... watch out! Chat Icon

I just thought it was him fighting going to sleep.

He also moves his head from side to side and fast sometimes (he's swaddled). I swear the kid is going to get whiplash. Does anyone else's dc do this?

I wonder when this will stop or when their nervous system evens out i guess. Chat Icon I have to put a noise machine on his room just to drown him out so i can go back to sleep. Chat Icon

My baby does this too- since he was about 5 months old, he is now 9 months. He moves his head, sometimes bangs it, and his legs too. I think he does it to settle himself down.

I can hear the "thump thump" on the monitor- it scared me at first!

Re: Banging legs down in sleep.....

Ella either bangs her feet or her head on the crib mattress when she wants to sleep. I was very concerned but her Ped said that it is just her way of soothing herself to sleep.

Melissa, he is just soothing himself.

Re: Banging legs down in sleep.....

DS does it too. He started at a pretty young age and I used to think it was because he didn't want to be swaddled, but he kept doing it after we took him out of the swaddle.

He's almost 11 months now and rarely does it now that he can move around, but every once in a blue moon, I still hear it. Chat Icon
