I think I'll be really excited when the framing starts. That's when it starts looking like a house. Right now, I have my current house with a huge hole in the yard.... 
Also, once the framing starts, there will be a lot of progress every day. For the foundation and basement, there are delays involved. Scheduling the excavator, concrete guys, waiting for the concrete to cure, inspections on the basement, etc. You can't work in parallel with the foundation. Everything builds on that. Some of the other inspections you can wait for while still doing other tasks.
