Re: I need to make a basket for a chinese auction...

when i went to an chinese auction i put my tickets in things related to drinks. there was a basket with drink mixes and martini glasses. also one for movies which had a gc for tickets, popcorn, candy. another idea is gc for local restaurant and some cute stuff to go inside the basket related to the theme of the restauarnt ie italian you can put in oil and vinegar, something like dry pasta, sauce. if you want to do a kids basket there are tons of easter things coming out now you can create your own. go to target and get some stuff in the dollar bin and decorate. maybe a bucket with some stuff for outdoors. side walk chalk, bubbles, shovel and pail, paper airplane. hth's

Great ideas! Some favorites I have bid on over the past few years were:

Spirits basket: bottles of light wines, glasses, wine crackers, decorative corkscrew, candles

Kitchen basket: Trivets, mat for the floor, wooden spoons, placemats, dishtowels, napkins and napkin rings (all matched)

Frame basket: Basket full of different sized frames

Bathroom basket: Soaps, washcloths, loofa sponge, candles, candleholders

A lottery tree! You can buy one of the picture holders that has droppy arms and you put lottery tickets on it instead of pictures... I can't find a picture of what I'm talking about... its almost like a bunch of wires that are bound together and then go up and droop down like a tree with little circles on the ends to hold pictures. Saw one at a chinese auction once and it was a HIT! Plus you can decide how much you want to put into it depending on the number of tickets you buy.
