I know that I don't post much. I am just sitting here and looking how big he is just 7 weeks later. I was originally due January 25 but was induced January 4 because of high blood pressure. At about 31 weeks my doctor found my blood pressure to be through the roof and started me on meds. On my 37 week check up my pressure remained high and I had protein in my urine. He told me go home get everything orgianized and go to the hospital they will be awaiting you.

So my husband and I made a quick stop at home to get my bag. We got to Stony Brook and registered. Since I need monitoring and they didn't think that I would deliver till the next day they placed me on the anti-partum floor. I got a single room which was great...the nurses were fantastic and couldn't do enough to make sure I was comfortable. About midnight they placed cervicil...I started having cramp like contractions about an hour later. After a nerve racking night of trying to sleep my water broke at 0540 and the contractions intensified.

At 0600 they brought me down to L&D. At that point I was having 3 contractions back to back to back breaking for a minute and then 3 again. My doctor checked me and as he put it I was 1 cm and sky high. He told me get the epidural cause of the way I was having contractions. I got the epidural and it almost made me pass out...it lowered my blood pressure to normal which my body hadn't seen for months. At 0830 my doctor came in and told me we were going to have to do a emergency c-section. The baby was dropping his heart rate with every contraction. Before I know it there was more people in the room then I could imagen. The nurses were there and talked me through everything. Everyone was so very nice and made sure that my husband and I know what was going to happen before it happened. Once they got me in to the OR it was minutes before my son Gavin Anthony was born (0914 6lbs 8 ounzes and 19 1/2 inches). It was found that he had the cord around his neck loosely once. Thankfully there was no damage from it...plus it was great that my doctor picked up on it right away so there was no chance for a problem.

After his birth I can't say enough about the nurses, residents, and axillary staff. Everyone was so attentive, nice, and pleasant. The surgery for me wasn't that bad of an expierence. I was up that night to a chair...then once everything was taken out the next day I was up and around without any problems. I still can't believe that he is here or how big he has gotten. I can't wait to have the next one so that he can have a play mate.

To the girls that are pregant enjoy this time and rememeber there is nothing more precious then when you hold your child for the first time.
