Anthony Valentino was born on June 1.
8 lbs 3 oz
19" long

I'm having a great time with him, although it's sometimes a little crazy. Anyway, here's my story....

I went to the dr. on Wednesday (5/31) and my blood pressure was 150/90. She said being that I was already 39 weeks she wanted to induce me rather than worry about it anymore. I asked if we could wait until the morning since DH is still in the police academy and had gun qualifying the next morning. She said she couldn't promise anything. She sent me to the hospital and said if the tests came back ok we could wait until morning. Either way, baby would be born 6/1.

My parents met us at the hospital and all the tests came back ok. I sent everyone home, and was supposed to be induced at 10am the next morning. Sounded fine to me. Except that at about 2:20am, the door flies open and about 4-5 drs and nurses come rushing in. They're all surrounding the monitors and nobody said a word to me. I asked if everything was ok. They said that when you have contractions (which I never even felt) the baby's heartrate drops, but that once it's over, it recovers. Well, his wasn't. They brought in my covering OB and he monitored me for about 5 minutes. He then told me he was sorry, but needed to do this now. I still thought I was being induced, so I said that's fine, just call DH and my parents. I heard one of the nurses say section and then realized I wasn't being induced. To tell you how fast it happened, they called DH at 2:38am and the baby was born at 2:40am. It's ok that he didn't make it there....since it was an emergency c-section, he wouldn't have been allowed in anyway. I was totally put under, and actually didn't even see the baby until about 10:30am. Everyone else had seen him but me. Oh well, I guess I needed that small bit of time to recover a little.

We're so in love with him, and being a mom is totally amazing. Here's my favorite pic.
