24 hour Animal Hospitals
**Print a few copies of this list of local Animal Hospitals and keep one in your cars, home, etc! Hopefully you'll never need it, but better to be prepared when seconds count!**

Just out of curiosity, where are there 24 hour animal hospitals on Long Island? Only one I know of is the Plainview one at LIE exit 48...
I had to rush my dog to plainview a few years ago in the middle of the night and he ended up not making it  That night I totally panicked and jumped in the car & went to the only one I knew of... If only I had known of a closer one at the time, I wonder if he would have made it..
I just thought knowing of other locations would be a good thing for everyone to be familiar with... god forbid there's ever another emergency with other pets

I like Greenfreak's suggestion of printing yourself directions, phone number & hours of the location closest to you to keep somewhere accessible in your home or car.

There is one in Bohemia on Vets Highway..
Atlantic Coast Veterinary Specialists.
They are a 24 hour emergency vet.
Here's the link to their site
By the way this is a great idea... It would be great to get this thread somehow pinned at the top for quick reference in an emergency

There is one on route 110 in Amityville right next to Adventureland and there is another one in Westbury on Old Country Road.

this one is great...been there 2 x (unfortunately!)...it's clean and the staff is great!
We just had to use them and I was totally impressed!! Didn't like the cost, but I think my kitty would have died if we stuck with our usual vet!

After Brinkley had a run-in with another dog at daycare, I realized that if my vet had been closed, I would have no idea where to go.
So I looked up the closest to me which is:
AES Animal Emergency

I printed out this information, a map of where they are, directions from the house, and put it in the back pocket of my passenger seat in my car. I also put others in there like the one in Bohemia so if I was out and about and needed them, I'd know how to get there.

I use them as well, Pricey , but u cant get better care for your pet, IMO

You're such a good fur-mom!! 
I think that's the one we took Kasey too last year when she cut her paw and needed stitches, they were great with her (and us). Hopefully we'll never have to go back but we did have a good experience.

there is one in commack on jericho turnpike. same shopping center as pet den and is across from northport ford. right past ruby tuesday in commack.

This is where I was sent by Banfield (Petsmart vet) on Saturday with Wrangler.
The staff was really wonderful (even with me such a mess).
Aslo used the one in Plainview twice.
Unfortunately we've never been to an "emergency vet" where we returned home with our beloved animal family members.

I brought a German Shepard that had been hit by a car and left to die in the streets there (I lived in Patchogue) many years ago. No owners, no tags. We rushed as fast as we could get there. The staff was phenomenal but unfortunately they could not save her. I cried as if the dog was my own, it was terrible. We've also brought one of my ex's dogs there when she was attacked by bees and started having a reaction. They were great!

 I'm soooo SORRY!
This is where my beloved kitty passed away recently too. They were wonderful to us- so sympathetic and caring.
I, too, was an utter and complete mess when I was there.
They even sent a sympathy card to our home a few days later.
I told the woman there that I dont know how she works there- it must be so hard to see pets so sick and owners hysterical.
She agreed that it was pretty heart wrenching.

Do you know the name or phone number so I can look it up? I'm having trouble finding that one.. can only find the commack one accross from best buy which isn't 24 hours
