Nope, not at all!
I did personalized chocolate bars and gave them out as a favor to adults - but totally not necessary.

if its at a place yes people probably expect, if its at a home party- not needed, but nice.....
chocolate is simple and afordable

I don't think they are necessary. We did the Cupcake Pops (from a vendor here!) as centerpieces, so we got enough for everyone, but mostly the adults gave theirs to the kids anyway.

We had favors for the adults. I made sure everyone was catered to.
