You can go to the Social Security Death Index - that's who we found out that DH's uncle passed away.

Also I'm not sure if you know about this one - but you may also want to try the Unclaimed Property for NYS
etd. for any unclaimed assets.

if you were in the will for the house, they wouldnt be able to sell it without having first contacted you... there's legal documents that you'd have to sign
ETS:.. the house could still sit there without you knowing if they havent read the will or acted on the estate, but as far as it being sold, they couldnt do that without contacting all those that it was willed to (or confirming that they were deceased, in which case it would then go to the children of the person that it was willed to).

if your biological father was in the will, then you may be, but since he passed away before they did, he may not have been in the will
