leaving LI

my dh said that if i really wanted to we could move out of LI. I am highly considering it, b/c taxes are really getting outrageous and considering the type of work i do i really don't contribute to much to our finances. the only thing is i don't know where i would move staten island is out, where would you go??

I know this may sound strange - but NJ - like around Cherry Hill - there are a lot of cool places there, and its very homey and nice...

ETA - I also lived in Vermont for 2 yrs - near Burlington, and would move back in a heartbeat - I LOVED it - and very cheap place to love!!!

we are deciding between Atlanta and then South Floridia as a last resort

we are not staying here- according my DH we wont be here next summer!

I would go to the carolinas, and hopefully once I'm done with college, that is what I will do.

I would go anywhere but here. I love Vermont. Or somewhere out west. Or Hawaii...it's expensive there too though.

We tossed the idea around. As long as my mother is in poor health, we won't budge. I am needed here.

If we were to go, I can teach anywhere. It would be DH's career that would decide where we would go. We like the suburbs but we need to be near a city. Though I was never really a Florida fan, I would consider Miami or Tampa. Atlanta is also an option for us and perhaps even Dallas, Texas.

This is something I've wanted to do for a while. While I can relocate anywhere (my job has offices even in Bahamas), DH is a Police Officer and he cannot transfer, and since he has more of a "career" than I do, I think it's unfair.

HOWEVER... the places I wouldn't mind going:

Florida - Palm Beach or Ft. Lauderdale area
Virginia

We are starting to look for a house in CT. I don't want to leave, but I think it's best for us. DH already works over there and I should be able to stay at home with DS.

Well if you want to get away from the high taxes and cost of living, you need to get out of the area completely... A lot of people go south to the carolinas, georgia, or florida.

We live in CT and like it a lot- BUT we temporarily lived in the Atlanta area for DHs job recently and we loved it! It is somewhere we would consider for the future- also, NC , or some parts of FL

make sure you can handle the climate,we were recetnly in Florida and we decied we could NEVER move down sout, too hot and we like a bit of chill and snow. If anthing we would move to Virginia, but that would NEVER happen, we LOVE NY too much!!
