From time to time I listen to this station on the radio when I am in the car with my three young daughters.

Yesterday while driving them to school, they had a bit where the host's 9 year old niece tells jokes.

One of the jokes (I am paraphrasing) - was "Recently a man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for hacking/releasing naked images of Scarlett Johannson, when asked to comment, the convicted man said "totally worth it".

Am I a wet noodle that doesn't understand comedy - or do you find this totally offensive?

As the mom of three very young girls, I was horrified that her uncle, her parents and the show would green light this joke. I wasn't a huge fan of the other jokes (which in my opinion were over the head of a 9 year old) - but this was the one that will make me stop listening.

Its horribly offensive.
Joking about a woman being violated by having nude photos released is terrible, having a 9 year old girl read the joke is beyond the pale.

I'm far from a prude and very little offends me....but that was in horribly horribly poor taste.
It's actually cringeworthy

NOT funny in the least.
very poor taste. the fact that a child told the joke makes it a million times worse.

This is not even a joke, it is misogynistic and I cannot believe they would have that on a show. https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/obscene-indecent-and-profane-broadcasts you should file a complaint with the FCC.

I wrote a complaint letter to the station - I do worry in the back of my head though, what the fall out would be to the 9 year old girl involved.

while I feel terrible for the child, are you 100% sure it is actually a child v an adult with a young voice? I would not want my 10 year old DD saying something like that, and if that is what she repeats in public, I am horrified about what must be said in private.

I'm not familiar with the station, but I fail to see how it's a joke.
But I'm also confused on why you think there would be fall out for the 9 year old girl???? The FCC is not putting her in jail. And as another poster said, don't be so quick to assume it was actually a child.

I guess I'm not 100% sure it was a 9 year old - but the host introduced her as "my nine year old niece" and it didn't sound like he was lying/joking. I hadn't heard this bit before, I'm not a regular listener, but I got the impression that it was something they have done before and will do again. Also, the feeling I got from the host was that he was proud of her for going on the air and telling jokes. (There were a few others, something about Nascar and another that I wasn't fully paying attention to.)

In terms of hurting the 9 year old, my oldest daughter is a little younger than that, but I know that if she ever found out that she was involved in something that got her uncle (who she is crazy about) in trouble, it would really impact her. I could be totally wrong, but based on the very little I know, I wouldn't put it past these parents/relatives to let her know what was going on.

One more thought, if it really wasn't a 9 year old...and I really think it was, having an adult pretend to be a 9 year old to do this bit......not much better in my opinion.

In case anyone is interested, here is the reply I got from the station (my, "I'm sorry if you were offended")

Good afternoon xxxxxxxx. I hope you are doing well. I wanted to thank you for caring enough to let us know your thoughts on a recent morning show bit that Jim Douglas executed. We take our listener's comments very seriously. I wanted you to know that we have spoken to Jim about this particular element of the show and that he is required to pay closer attention to our audience's norms when creating content. Our goal is always to entertain and inform, but unfortunately, you found this unacceptable in this particular instance. Again, I appreciate the feedback. If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to call me.

I’m glad you spoke up. This was disgusting. The only way to drive change is to hold these people responsible.

While the joke alone may be harmless it contributes over time to the repression of women and normalization of what has become #metoo. It’s the jokes we all laugh off that allow that stuff to be normal and continue.

We should all be more vocal and or speak with our actions on what brands we listen, buy and support.

I’ve stopped my amazon prime and while I can’t say I will never buy from them again, I’m seriously reducing my support. Their morals don’t match with mine and I don’t want to support them.

Not to hijack the thread - but can you elaborate on this?
I've stopped buying from Victoria's Secret because of the CEO's ties to Epstein.

Oh its not that much better, just slightly better. But the least thing I would be thinking about is that the 9 yr old will be traumatized if her uncle gets in trouble. I don't even see how that would happen. But anyway that is a BS response you got and I would pursue it.
