Do you think it would be worth it to move to a community that is more diverse? The market in the suburbs is pretty hot now so there would probably be no issue selling your home. I will not include my personal experience since that is not allowed anymore.
We have thought about going back to the Bayside/Auburndale area of Queens. But housing is very expensive there and we are a family of 7, so we would need a pretty big house. Our house in Nassau would go on the market at about 650k so it's not impossible...but homes in the 11358/11361 zip codes which is where we would be looking are pretty much selling for no less than a million.

That part of queens really isn’t too diverse. Maybe an area like Astoria, elmhurst or something would be better as far as home prices go.

Georgia voting law
Compared to where I live now, it is very diverse. I teach in the area and my school is EXTREMELY diverse. We have students of every race and nationality you could imagine. Astoria is VERY expensive. It probably won't happen anyway. I would love to go back to Queens but the city is more expensive than the island. We will see.

I will be fully transparent and admit that I glazed over the section about your son because your last line hit a nerve with me and actually did get me angry. Because my comment about being woke isn’t about being white or race. You are right I don’t know what people do in their spare time but I can bet if we did real analysis of this the posters on here the majority aren’t actively participating like you.
As for your son, I really feel it’s about incorporating diversity into their lives, understanding and building relationships outside of their bubble. And I am going through the same thing with my son. He has been so privileged, that I realized at 12 he doesn’t get it. The same for my nieces or nephews, so this isn’t only a white thing tbh.
Volunteer work, being a part of a youth center in other communities, learning how to build those relationships and understand the different lives of others. I think reading a book, looking at the news and attending marches are great but idk if it’s long lasting. I don’t want my son to do something and just go home, and think, check I did my deed for the day.
Thank you. I appreciate the response and I apologize for my last line. I do know this is not only white children who are privileged, that it's a much bigger issue. All of us are far from perfect but I do try. Luckily my children's school is very diverse, although my immediate neighborhood is not and sometimes I regret moving my children out of Queens. But, that's a whole other topic for a whole other day lol. Anyway, thanks again for the clarification and again, I apologize.
Thanks for apologizing, I do apologize for telling you to shut up and being nasty. These post spiral out of control and I realize for no reason when I look back at them.
I struggle because my area is diverse, so my son understand different cultures and diversity etc. But it’s also mixed in with a lot of wealthy people and million dollar mansion (100% not us, LOL). So some of my sons friends have basketball courts and bowling alleys in their houses. I feel like sometimes he doesn’t understand the true struggles because he sees only the triumph and the good side of it.
Now I’m rambling.

Astoria. It’s so crazy how it change over the years. I’m still amazed about Brooklyn, I wish it was that cool when I lived there. LOL.
