age spots

is a prescription the only way to go for some kind of lotion or potion to help counter the age spots i've gotten on my upper back and shoulders from sun exposure over the years?

for a woman who hates being in the sun, i'm a bit surprised at how many i have.

is there anything over the counter or home remedy to help lighten these wonderful spots or do i have to go to a dermatologist?

Ugh I've been researching myself because I have a few on my hands and nothing makes you look older than age spots on the hands. Chat Icon
From what I can see dermo is the best bet- laser treatment to really get rid of them but it's pricey. And they'll come back if you aren't diligent with the SPF after.
I think the dermo can also prescribe a fade cream that is better than anything OTC if you don't want to go the laser route.

I always say- I wish I could tell my teenager and 20 something self to stay the eff out of the sun. At the time being tan was so important. Now I am so pissed at the damage I did.

yeah, i thought a dermatologist was the way to go... but i didn't know about the laser.

i'm only just starting to research dermatologists and facial plastic surgeons... i have a turkey neck from weight loss and would love to fix it.

ok, looks like my dermatologist expense will be a little more than i initially expected lol

My friend did laser for a few on her face. It did a good job, but you just have to be strict with the sunscreen every day after because who wants to waste all that money to have it come back.
