JOB DESCRIPTION BUSINESS MANAGER The Business Manager reports to the Library Director and is responsible for, but not limited to, maintaining the day-to-day accounting functions, preparing monthly financial reports, and performing general accounting functions, as required.

The ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES shall include, but not limited to, the following:
1. Accounts Payable including: posting invoices, recording and processing payments and vendor records maintenance.
2. Bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
3. Reconcile all balance sheet accounts; reviewing for input accuracy and prepare monthly reports and journal entries, as needed.
4. General ledger maintenance.
5. Prepare and execute all aspects of bi-weekly payroll for 50 employees.
6. Administration of quarterly business and payroll taxes.
7. Administration of NYSHIP Insurance, NY State retirement and Library insurance.
8. Prepare monthly financial reports.
9. Maintain required business documents.
10. Assistance with annual budget and audit process.
11. Maintain financial document retention files.
12. Responsible for the recording of deposits.
13. Prepare records and coordinate documents for the Library’s annual audit.
14. Perform other related duties/projects as may be requested by the Director.
15. Process new hire and termination paperwork.
16. Maintain compliance with Federal, State and local laws, in addition to Library Policy and Union Contract, including but not limited to FMLA, PFL, LTD and STD benefits.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
2. Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Office.
3. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
4. Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
5. Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
6. Highly organized and detail oriented.
7. Able to complete tasks accurately and timely with minimal supervision.
8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
9. Thrives collaborative, team player office environment.
10. Ability to interface well with Board, staff and external contacts of the Library.
11. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
12. Strong organizational skills.
