I think that him saying that is not going to motivate the anti-mask, anti-distancing, anti-isolation people to start masking and distancing and isolating. It is going to do the exact opposite, that is, people are going to feel like "oh well if it's never gonna get better than why bother." I feel like what he should have said is "if we all do a, b and c for x amount of time, then together with the vaccine, there is a good chance that we could be maskless and celebrating Christmas with family this year. That's what people need to hear. That is what would motivate me. Hope. Positivity. A goal. But more doom and gloom and telling people that they will be left to a joyless life full of misery for the foreseeable future only makes me say "fluck it." I am not saying lie, but honestly, nobody has any idea how this is going to play out. They have been wrong over and over the past year.
But is the anti-masking crowd going to be motivated into starting to do so for the greater good? Are the spitters and the coughers going to be motivated to start doing what needs to be done? Are they going to be motivated not to get together for Groundhog's Day just for the sake of it? I'm of the belief that if they haven't figured out why they need to do these things to get a handle on this virus in the past year then I doubt they ever will. They have a set of beliefs that I don't believe are going to change. And how are the people who believe Bill Gates is microchipping the vaccine going to be swayed to be part of the 70% that's needed to be vaccinated?
Unfortunately, reigning this virus in and going back to normal needs to be a group effort and I don't like the group we're stuck with. It's like when you were assigned a group project in school and only 1 person did all the work and everyone else not participating caused the grade to go down.
Exactly. The people who have been a problem ALL along are the same people who will continue to be a problem. I'd rather Biden be honest about the path we're on rather than blow smoke up my a$$. Sadly, we have a long road ahead of us from getting people to cooperate to getting people to vaccinate. Some people STILL don't get it and it's the ignorant and misinformed that will hold us all back.
Yep, and I don't need to get my hopes up hearing the second dose is on its way only to find out there is no second dose. I don't need false hope. It's not doom and gloom to look at the situation realistically. 12 months later people still need to be told "wear your masks and stay 6 ft apart and wash your GD filthy hands so next Christmas can be normal?" when in reality if they had just done all that in March there's no reason why this Christmas that just passed couldn't have been a normal one. People really need to be coddled and have their hand held still? They still need help connecting the dots? The reality is that all the people who weren't following the guidelines anyway did just have a normal Christmas because they dgaf about the guidelines and they never have and never will. They may have spread covid around like a bish, but their Christmas was a normal one except for it being diseased. The people following the guidelines already know to do so.

It's all about the positive things that his plans are going to do for Americans, and how the plans will help people in several different areas. It has numbers, what he thinks we can do, and what he thinks we can't do.

Agree with this. No news here. We need the honesty. People have behaved recklessly and selfishly. This didn't need to get so bad, but there will be a lag, during which more needless devastation will occur while shots are given. Herd immunity will take much longer than we would like. And the economic lag will, unfortunately, be lengthy too. Love having grownups and experts in charge, and love seeing the light at the end.
