Has anyone seen Facebook block something due to a fact check?
This has to be something new?
A few days or a week ago someone on my feed posted some meme about how if your kid gets the virus and have to be hospitalized they will be taken away from you in a van with strangers ( ) and you won't be able to be with them while they are being treated. And THIS is why we need to ALL STAY HOME.
I right away thought about how this was wrong in so so many ways and of course all the sheep who believe everything they see in a meme on Facebook were putting little crying emojis and saying how scary it was.
Only one brave soul commented that this is not true. But she was ignored in the sea of panic and doom seekers.
Anyway, today I'm scrolling and it pops up again but with an overlay over the meme that says something like- Facebook fact check has found this to be untrue. Or somethign like that.
And you click on it and it takes you to a snopes like place that says...Hoax Alert-Fact Check: Your Child Will NOT Be Taken From You If They Have COVID-19
And a whole article with facts to prove it false
Anyway, I have never seen Facebook automatically redact false news with a fact check article before.
Has anyone seen this yet?

Yes, a girl who went to high school with me is a huge Trunp supporter. Her posts get flagged as false and misleading. The worst part for me is that she is a teacher. I asked her if she understood exponential math 4 weeks ago and told her to find the math teacher in her school to explain it to her. She did not get it.

I’ve been seeing that for at least a few months I think. My Aunt is constantly posting fake articles lol. I noticed it & was wondering if the person that posted it gets a notification?? She would ignore it anyway & probably just think it was something the Democrats created to block her truth haha

Yes, I've seen this a bunch, mainly with the anti-vaxxers. Political posts a few times, too.

I've been seeing it for a while too. You're right, it's always the same people over and over again. I've wondered if they can see it's being blocked. I've read the comments and when people let the poster know that it's false, they seem confused and don't seem to understand that FB is blocking it.

I’ve been seeing it for a while. Before FB did it, my MIL would act as the fact checker and call out all family members who posted false articles.

It happened today with an April fool’s article saying Cuomo is banning alcohol sales in nys as of 8pm Monday lol

No but I love that they do that. I hate that post every time someone posts it I say it’s not true. And anytime someone says they definitely know it is I ask them which hospital it is so I can check myself then proof them wrong!!
