Eurostar from London To Paris

Has anyone done this? I found that I can book the first train out, and the last one back, making it a day trip. I'm looking for a feasible itinerary once we get there. We would have about 10 hours. Just myself and my young adult son (since my daughter won't come because she doesn't want to miss school Chat Icon)

I did a day trip to Paris once with my husband. We ended up taking a taxi out to Versaille after our train got in. That took up a big chunk of our day and then we taxi’d back to the Eiffel Tower and pretty much just walked around exploring. I had already seen Notre Dame and been to the Louvre when I was college so we didn’t go back there, but those are definitely places to check put if haven’t been there.

Re: Eurostar from London To Paris

I haven’t done a day trip to Paris, but I did take the Eurostar about 20 years ago. I remember it took me 3 hours each way, but I think it’s faster now.

It’s going to be a really long day if you do it in one day. I would suggest that you pre book anything, if possible, you want to see.

Some ideas:
Eiffel Tower
Arc de Triumph (spelling is probably wrong)
Sacre Coeur

Do you like art? The Louvre is good, but it takes a lot of time. Worth seeing the outside for the architecture. My fav is Musée d’Orsay.

I would try to fit in a nice meal somewhere. I went to a really great place, but I forget the name. I can look it up for you if you want. Let me know.

ETA: I found the restaurant that is really good: https://brasseriethoumieux.fr/en/

We did 4 days in Paris and packed a lot in. In one long 10 hour day, you can hit a lot of the highlights. I would definitely go online and get the Eiffel Tower tickets. I’d try to do that early as the lines even with tickets were long. If you can get tickets directly from the website, try booking a “tour” that will get you in through security and take you to at least the first platform.

The Louvre is huge and again lines can be long. You can probably run in and see the Mona Lisa and Venus DeMilo but you really won’t get to enjoy anything

Versailles is beautiful but it definitely took us a while to get there via train.

One of the best things we did was the hop on/hop off bus! Sounds hokey but we saw so much of the city and hopped off at the Arc de Triomphe and climbed to the top, walked the champs elysees. We also got off at the stop for sacre coure and walked around there and the moulin rouge. We also did a boat cruise on the seine. We got on and off the bus all day and really packed a lot into it.

We really wanted to do the catacombs tour but they were on strike when we went

Thanks everyone, still thinking about it. Now I'm reading that November is cold and rainy over there (London and Paris), so I just might cancel the entire trip.

We did that once. First train out, second-to-last train back. It's a very long day, but completely amazing.

Definitely have a plan for the 3 or 4 things you want to see and give yourself a nice lunch break. We went to the Musee D'Orsay, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, and took a ride on a bateau mouche. No Sacre Coeur and I can't remember if we made it to the Louvre or not.

We did it about 10 years ago. day trip, first train and last train.
Our train got delayed going in, which cut things short.

We toured Notre Dame, walked around a bit and had lunch, visited the Eiffel tower, but didn't go up it ( we should have reserved in advance), we walked down the Champ de elysee and had Macarons. We stopped by the Louve, but they were closing. We did take the subway; the hop on hop off bus is a great idea, make a reservation for the Eiffel tower and consider how you want to spend your time. it is visiting Paris, but not really visiting Paris, you don't get to do everything you want to, but get to have a taste of it.
