Potty training

Any tips I can use for potty training a toddler boy? Did you train them to stand and pee right off the bat? Or sit first, then trained to stand?

What do you use when you're out in public restrooms? I'm grossed out at the thought of my toddler sitting on a public toilet. Do you use your own portable toilet seat or those toilet seat liners? What do you do if you're somewhere where there are no bathrooms?

Thank you!

Re: Potty training

I'm about to start training my THIRD boy and I still don't feel like I have it right. At home, I start them on the baby potty and then sit them on the potty insert on the regular toilet. I train them with them sitting down, pee pee down.

In public, I have them stand on the bowl itself and point down. Poop I just feather the nest.

Good luck!

When we trained DS we taught him by sitting. I don't remember when he started to stand, but it naturally happened as he got taller and realized daddy peed standing up. There were urinals at his Pre-K, too.

It's no different than training a girl to use public restrooms. Just put toilet paper down, teach them not to touch anything, and wash afterwards.

Potty training

We did sitting first. Mainly bc he wasn’t quite 2 yet, and even with a stool it wouldn’t have gone into the potty he was so short

Re: Potty training

I've trained 2 boys sitting down on the actual toilet. We had the full size seat with pull down child's seat. It worked great! I never had pee on my floor because they sat and never had to clean out those kids potty buckets. I plan on training my 3rd boy the same way.
