Anxiety before your period?
Does anyone find they get more anxiety before their periods?
I feel like the week before my period, in addition to all the other lovely symptoms, I wake up (and go to bed) with anxiety a lot.
For no real reason.
It's just that anxious, heart racing, unsettled feeling.
Yesterday driving home I felt myself heading towards a panic attack actually. For no reason at all. I was sitting in a lot of traffic and felt trapped- but that happens every day and I don't usually get panicky from it. I got it under control quickly, but still, it was odd.
Then this morning-I woke up around 530 am feeling anxious.
I took some CBD gummies and fell back to sleep and when I woke up again I felt better but I normally don't need to take CBD in the morning.
Then I realized I'm due for my period soon.
Is anxiety a symptom of PMS?

Yes.
Especially as I get older. If I am not in tune when AF is due, and start to get the racing heart and anxious feeling, I check the calendar and BAM - It's usually about 3-4 days away. I try and cut back on caffeine at that point - it tends to help some. I also up my CBD and when needed, I'll take a xanax.
I also get this same feeling when I am about to ovulate. Between the pain, constipation and the Anxiety, I can time my ovulation to the damn hour these days. As soon as that egg drops, it's like I'm back to my old self for a week and then it begins for the arrival of AF. And for AF, on top of the anxiety, I get a bashing headache for a day or two and the night before, I wake up in a. pool of sweat. That's how I know she'll be here the next day

This is interesting. I wonder if this is why I go thru periods of insomnia. I should track this.

THE WORST!
I get very hot the week before too. Like rip my coat off in a snow storm kind of hot. I also feel a bit queasy and nauseous for a few minutes here and there. Its odd.
Glad I am not alone in the anxiety thing.

Anxiety before your period?
Me too! I definitely get the anxiety. I have GAD and depression and have to remind myself each month that I am okay and it is juts my hormones doing their thing. Tracking my symptoms each definitely helps. Although it sucks I have like one good week a month lol.

Keep a journal for sure. Including food. I’ve found that I have to stop dairy the week before AF because it makes my acid reflux go into overdrive. Something with the hormonal shift. And I like I mentioned before, I cut back the caffeine to help with the anxiety symptoms as well.
I also have trouble getting to sleep but it’s usually my anxiety keeping me up. That’s where the extra CBD or Xanax come in handy.
Nell - I get nausea too. I keep crackers around for it.

Yes absolutely. I once asked my dr about it and there is definitely a coorelation. I also get insominia as well.

Thank God for CBD.
It seriously helps me so much with these little bouts of anxiety pre-period.

Yes! I had such anxiety toward the end of last week, for really no reason! And got my period Sunday. Good times
