Spin Off to Flu Shots

My pediatrician wants both my boys to get the flu shot. DS got it last year and was fine (he'll be 3 in November) and suggests that my little guy (7 months) get it. She said the flu shot is for anyone 6 months and older. Do you think 7 months is too young?

Re: Spin Off to Flu Shots

It is absolutely not too young. They should get it at 6 months and up.
I think at that age they split it into 2 shots though- spread out over a month or something maybe? I vaguely remember that.

The flu in babies that young can be very very serious.

The flu stresses me out so much so I'm not against the shot at all I just wasn't sure if 7 months was too young. For him, since he's obviously never gotten it before he will get 2 shots - one in October and the other in November.

Not too young at all- DD got it when she turned 6 months on the dot. She didn't turn 6 months until late December so we had to wait until then even though flu season started before that.

My oldest turned 6 months in October. Her ped gave me the shot in August and then she got her first at her 6 month appointment. He was pretty adamant and I had no regrets.

Not too young at all. I would absolutely give it to him and not give it a second thought.

My son got the flu shot at 6 months. He was in daycare at the time, but I would do it again even if it wasn't the case.

My son got the shot when he turned 6 months. You do not want a young child to get the flu. It can be deadly!

My family never received the flu shot, however my son was born 6 weeks early, and will be too young to get it this season, so we are 100% on board getting it for his protection.

My daughter first got hers at 6 months. They break it into 2 separate shots and space it out.

I do not give my kids flu shots anymore. Each year they get it and each year they get the flu anyway and it’s NOT “lesser”.... it’s a week out of school.

Unnecessary chemicals in their bodies for zero protection.

I wouldn’t bother.
