Too much for a 5 year old?
Would a Day in the city with a trip to the American girl store with lunch and then going to see the Christmas spectacular be too much for a 5 year old?
I want to treat my dd next year and yes I’m planning already but I don’t know if it will be too much walking and excitement.

I think it would be fine. Those two places are literally down the block from each other so it’s not a lot of walking.

Re: Too much for a 5 year old?
It’s a long day. Not far for distance... but if you spend 2 hours at AG, 2 hours at rockettes... it’s 4-5 hours with transportation being extra. I’d think it would be mentally tiring/overexciting.
I’d personally split it into 2 special trips. Go see the tree, go eat, go to top of the rock as part of the trips.

Re: Too much for a 5 year old?
I think technically it’s fine, but I feel those two things are both so special in their own right that I’d probably separate them into two events. They might sort of wash each other out and you’d lose the focus.
My dds bday is in December and as much as I want to take her to American girl for her bday, we will probably hold off til a weekday in summer in hopes of less crowds.

I think it depends on your child. My ds would be fine but I know other 5 yo would not.

I *think* my 5 yo would be able to handle that, although I haven't actually done a big trip to the city with her yet, so I can't say for sure. But she's way past the age for needing naps, and seems to have endless energy most days, so I feel like she'd be fine.

Would be fine for my girls at that age. Sounds like a great day!
