Stillbirth....

My husband and I just lost our first child about 2 weeks ago. I was 37+ weeks pregnant and everything had been going smoothly, I had zero issues the entire pregnancy. We had a sonogram on a Friday (11/7) that confirmed I was full term and ready to go at any given moment... then that following Tuesday we were given news that our baby no longer had a heartbeat. No reason given, just options on how I would like to proceed. I gave birth to our beautiful daughter Ivanka Rose on Thursday afternoon (11/13) after being induced. We got to hold her and kiss her and say our goodbyes. Just this past Saturday we buried our daughter. Still feels so surreal. One minute you're pregnant expecting so much, the next you're left with empty arms and an empty heart.
Neither of us are no where near ready right now but know we want to try again in the future...never to replace our precious Ivanka but rather give her a sibling to watch over. My fears for getting pregnant again and having this happen are so very real...but next time I don't think I'll have it in me to survive it. Has anyone here had a similar situation and had a successful pregnancy afterwards?

I am so very sorry for what you are going through. Words cannot express how I feel right now and I wish you and your husband all the best. There will be some tough days ahead...

This did not happen to me but it did happen to someone very dear to me. She gave birth prematurely and the baby lived a couple hours before being taken away. She ended up getting pregnant a year later and had a successful healthy pregnancy and beautiful and healthy baby.

This also happened to someone my SIL knows and she too ended up having a successful pregnancy after.

Please try to stay strong and have hope. XOXOXO

No advice, just want to say I am so VERY sorry for your loss.

I have gone through loss, but not like this. The only thing I can say is that you have to live your life. There is joy every day, and there is doubt every day. Yes, there is fear that this could happen again. Life happens. Don't let the fear stop you from trying to start your family.

In most cases you have a great pregnancy and a great outcome. THAT is the norm, not the exception.

This was the exception.

Again, I am so so sorry for your loss.

Stillbirth....

I am so sorry for the loss of your little girl. What a beautiful name.
This happened to a coworker & his wife, and she went on to have a successful pregnancy about a year later.

I am so sorry Chat Icon

I had a fetal demise at 28 weeks back in 2003. Everything was going fine until my level 2 ultrasound. They said DS angel was measuring small. I then was seeing a MFM twice a week. While shopping for a car seat my breast began leaking . I thought I was feeling kicks over the next couple of days so didn't think much of it. Then I lost my mucous plug. I worked in L&D so I was already there. Couldn't find a HB on the monitors then couldn't find it on the ultrasound.

The cause of demise was cord was in a true knot and the maternal side of the placenta had clots in the vessels(reason why he was measuring small). I had a history of DVTs (as recent as 5 months prior to pregnancy )and should have been on anticoagulant the entire pregnancy but my OB at the time did not think it was necessary.

I did get pregnant (not even realizing my periods were back [had bleeding since delivery] a few months later). DS is now a healthy 10 year old.

Two months after delivering my youngest (after numerous failed IVF cycles) I got pregnant naturally last fall. I had a demise again due to placenta abruption.

There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about my angels.

Re: Stillbirth....

My heart is broken for you :( Praying for strength for you and your family. This is truly everyone's worst nightmare. Take some time and you will know in your heart when it is right to begin again but it is very healthy to mourn and take time for yourself. Hang in there!
