I am having a bad day
My Dad passed away last Monday, so yesterday was one week.
He had cancer for 3 years and fough so hard, and then his last 2 weeks were a rapid rapid decline. It all happened so quickly. 3 weeks ago when we got the news that the cancer had spread to his bone and liver, I thought we had a few months left. And then it all happened so fast.
Last week as we were preparing for the wake and funeral we were going through old pictures and videos and reflecting on the wonderful person that my Dad was. And I kept htinking about how miserable he must have been on Monday, the day he died. He was really suffering and it was a relief in a way that he didn't suffer for too long.
But today and this week it is back to normal. Back to working (which is babysitting at home for me) back to responsibilities, dr appointments, and the normal every day activities, and today it is hitting me SO hard.
It feels unfair that I have to get right back into life only a week after my Dad has gone and I have no desire to do anything at all. I just want to crawl into bed and sleep or sit at the cemetary and visit him. I don't want to have to do all of this ordinary day stuff.
It is just so hard. I wish I was someone who could go on with daily life and get lost in the daily tasks and not let it get to me. Instead every little thing today is making me stop and cry.
I can't wait for Sunday so that I can go and visit the cemetary. It is 40 minutes away and they close at 4:45pm, so I can't go during the week.
I don't know how long this empty feeling is going to last and for how long I will have days like this, but it really REALLY sucks.

I just lost my dad 3 months ago, I know exactly how you are feeling.
I would have to hold back tears at my desk for days and it's the worst feeling. I still get upset very often.
Hang in there, I know how much it sucks and there is nothing to make it better.

i lost my dad a long time ago. sometimes its hardest when things are supposed to be getting back to normal kwim? totally normal but totally sucks
