Concert Tour Riders

I find it amusing to see what stars request. Aretha Franklin requires a $25,000 payment upon arrival; Mariah likes cristal and bendy straws (Chat Icon); Christina Aguilera wants flintstone vitamins and J Lo really does require all white furnishings for her room.

I love how Beck asks for such basic easy stuff. Chat Icon

Madonna Flush with Success

There are privileges to being a pop icon that go far beyond mere fame and fortune. For instance, you always have a pristine place to park your keister whenever nature calls. That's a germ-free perk enjoyed by Madonna, who requires a brand spankin' new toilet seat at every stop of her mega-grossing "Confessions" tour, according to the New York Daily News.

"It must be wrapped in plastic so her people can open it, and then she demands it be disposed of immediately after she leaves the venue so no one can sell it on eBay," a mole tattles to the paper.

Madonna's rep vouches for the unsullied seat demand, and disturbingly adds, "I don't know if anyone helps her wipe, but there are probably people who would volunteer."

The sanitized toilet isn't the Big M's only request on the road. The London Mirror helpfully details some of her other backstage wants: three Kabbalah candles, including one that, like her ever-present red string bracelet, wards off the evil eye (presumably coming from the guy who has to install and dispose of her toilet seat); pricey Kabbalah water; dozens of white roses; unsalted edamame; a foot spa; and yards of white fabric to drape her dressing room.

Meanwhile, in related news, Scarlett Johansson's people are firing back at Andrew Lloyd Webber's claims that her planned London stage debut in his revival of "The Sound of Music" was scrubbed due to her "ridiculous" requirements.

"Her people were not pro the idea," the composer tells the London Sunday Times. "It became clear it wasn't going to work because the demands became so ridiculous. They wanted two minders backstage at all times and all that sort of thing."

Sighs Webber, "They couldn't understand why she would want to appear in the West End for [$18,500] a week when she could be earning $10 million for a movie. It was annoying because I think she really wanted to do it."

But Scarlett's rep tells the paper that while there were "discussions" about the musical, any talk of "demands" is "extremely exaggerated."

"Her management team was simply asking for terms that an actress of her stature would ask for," explains the flack. "The real reason why the negotiations stopped was the run of the play interfered with the production of one of the films she was slated to accomplish."

Webber, who reveals that "Scarlett can really sing," wanted her to play virginal warbler Maria, a role made famous on the big screen by Julie Andrews. He's decided to cast an unknown in the part through a BBC reality show titled, "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?"
