DH came with me to drop my car off for service. He wanted to test drive a car (for fun). They photocopied his NJ Driver's License and handed it back to me (as we got in the car for him to drive).
It expired on November 30, 2004.
Then, we stopped by my MIL's house to pick of the mail. He is ordered to appear in court on May 18 because he paid his $17 dog license renewal LATE for the 3rd year in a row. If he does not appear in court to explain why he paid the $17 dog license fee late, he will be arrested. My MIL was pretending like she couldn't speak English when I asked her when this mail arrived.
When we arrived home, the alarm was going on because he forgot to turn off the oven before we went to the car dealership.
So, I am sitting here. fuming. he will walk himself to the DMV in the morning (in NJ, they have a cop in the DMV so if any smart@ss tries to drive out without having a Driver's License will be promptly arrested)
We are looking up the DMV rules now. It appears he will get away with this because it is only (ONLY) 6 months expired.
Then, he is going to March himself over to the court house and show them his bank statement because he paid the $17 2 days before his court appearance was ordered.
This really ruined a good day. He just had a wonderful interview today for a much better and higher paying job.

Now I feel bad. He just said, "you're not talking bad about me on the internet, are you? I'm already really sad about all of this."

no one at the DMV noticed that his license was expired, so they just issued him a new one.
Then he walked over to the courthouse and paid a $27 fine to resolve the dog license summons.
He has the best luck!
