Ok, I'm new to knitting....I have a pattern for a baby blanket...it says to use size 10 needles...it then says to cast on 187 stitches. Now...I cannot cast on 187 stitches to a regular size needle....do I need to use the long round ones if I'm not making something round just for the space on the needle? Any help would be great....thanks. Posted 8/17/05 12:13 PM |

I don't know how to knit THAT well, I have only done small things...I do crocheting. However, yes, you can use the long round ones (if you are talking about the metal needle with the wire-like that connects them). I know this because my grandma is making a blanket and she is using them. Posted 11/1/05 1:17 PM |

I agree, use circulars. My guess is that a 24 or 29 chain would be long enough. I knit a blanket on 9's with a 29" and it was comfortable. Posted 11/2/05 3:04 PM |
