Im so sorry for your loss. My dad joined a support group throught cancer care (i think). i think it helped. My dad was really depressed and lonely. he recently started dating. it's weird but im happy that he's not sitting alone all the time. he says hes not "happy" about having to date- but it's the only thing that helps him to survive. u know what i mean? but back to your question- i think a support group would definitely help. Cancer Care of LI (located in Woodbury) is a wonderful resource. They offer free one-on-one counseling in addition to group support. Posted 10/22/06 2:24 PM |

I'm sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, my dad has not been very cooperative with going out and socializing..its been over two years!!! But he did try some bereavement groups at Huntington Hospital and it seemed to help for the short time he went. Good luck and remember to grieve for yourself too. He'll find his way.
