Okay i have a few minutes so i wanted to let you all know how it went.
Friday i was scheduled for the c-section since the boys growth sonograms was showing one was almost 6 pounds and the other was only around 4 pounds 10 ounces or so.
I had a lot of anxiety, but I had a good night sleep as I had a really rough last three weeks with pain.
The nurses and staff at Winthrop were amazing. The set you up in triage and you get an IV bag, some medicine for stomach acid (yuck!) and wait. I was scheduled to go at 10 but then i got bumped till 12 due to an emergency c-section. There were 2-3 other woman in the room with me in recovery or waiting to go in.
I was brought into the room at 12 and the spinal was given to me then. It felt like a little pinch, however, the needle is kept in a bit longer then i was thinking. Right away you feel a warm sensation go down you back, but it was A LOT better then i was thinking it was going to be (The IV needle hurt more). The nurse allowed me to hold onto her shoulders.
I was getting kind of nervous because i could still wiggle my toes, but apparently they had started already and i had no clue. They then brough my husband in. The babies were out in about 15 minutes and my DH got to go over and take pictures and hold them after the pediatricians said they were doing good. Jack (the smaller of the two) weighed in at 5 lbs 7 ozs so he was a lot bigger then the sono said he was going to be. I barely felt them take Jack out of me, but when Kevin came out i just turned to my husband and said oh what a relief. From start to finish it was about 45 minutes.
I had to stay in recovery for 6 hours (normally its 2, but for twins it's longer) and the boys were sent to a transitional nursery where a determination would be made in 6 hours if they would go to the regular nursery or the NICU. My DH went between the two of us and within 4 hours the boys were sent to the nursery. I was wheeled upstairs around 8 (they allowed family to visit me in the recovery room) and finally at 8 i got to hold the boys and feed them. I was getting REALLY emotional at the end because i really only glanced at them and had to wait so long to see them again. That really was the worst part of the day for me.
They allowed me to get out of bed the next morning and sit in a chair, but by noon i walked my way to the nursery. I really didn't have much pain but I was also on pain medicine. The next morning i woke up pretty bad and the nurse came in and i was crying and she said don't let it get to this point before you ask for pain medicine. So i learned that lesson.
We stayed in for 5 days, but they were trying to get us to go after 4 - stay the extra day. That last night i got about 8 hours of sleep and need it now!
A week later and I am feeling good. Still a little sore down there, but nothing bad. The breast engorgement was pretty bad the first day but the nurse gave me pain medicine. Now they hurt when one of the babies cry but it's becoming less too.
I am in complete love with these little guys. They were so worth the pain and everything. The feelings you have when you look at them and think hey i created this person is amazing.
Any questions feel free to ask. Hopefully i can get this picture to attach.
Ali
ETA - We are having a pretty hard time telling them apart. Hopefully that will come with time!

They are gorgeous!! Saoirse was a little smaller so we left her ankle hospital id on. Other ways is to put a K or J on their diapers after changing them. It took a while to be able to be 100% sure who was who
