I don't know how anyone goes on after such tremendous losses. I really don't. My family is hurting a lot right now. My grandmother was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and she is home with hospice. This has been a big blow. Growing up, my family was certainly different. Because my parents divorced, I lived with my grandparents for pretty much half my life. Because of that, the roles changed. My grandmother is in many many ways another mother. I got away with NOTHING as a kid. But I had amaziing females in my life. And now, I don't know how to be strong for my own mother and my aunt as we are going through this.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that my heart goes out to all of you. And I thank you for letting me post thiis.

You don't need to be strong for them you need to be strong for only yourself. You need to grieve for only yourself. You can be there for them but please don't put your own grieving aside. We all need a shoulder to lean on but sometimes we lose ourselves in the proces. I'm sorry you're going through this but know we are all here for you.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Hi All....
I'm new tom this board as of a few minutes ago.
This is a subject that is very close to me as I am an only child and my MOM will be gone 9 years on Sept 1st.

Beth....be very careful with denial, I did it for months, when I finally accepted the fact that my MOM was gone, I was an emotional mess and have just started getting my life back 9 years later.
