My Dad Passed away

My dad has been in the hospital for the past 3 weeks. About 3 Saturdays ago My sister was trying to call my dad, and I was trying to call me dad, but he would not answer. We figured he was taking one of his afternoon naps....It turns out that after my sister finally got through on his cellphone, that he blacked out in the kitchen and fell. He ended up cutting his elbow on the countertop and being on the floor for 3 to 4 hours. We all rushed over there after hearing he was on the floor in the kitchen.

He was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, and he was in the CCU for about a week. His blood pressure was low, His kidneys were failing and he has congestive heart failure.

Now he is in a regular room and we hired a 24 hour private nurse to take care of him. His kidneys were getting better in the CCU but now the meds he was taking to repair them, are not working, and he only has 15% out of 100% of his heart and Kidneys functioning.

Yesterday he looked really good, and he was looking a lot better than he has been in the past few weeks, but right now we don't know what is going to happen.

I am so sad - We lost my mother a year and a half ago, and my father has been so depressed since she died. When my mom died, most of my father died with her. He has not been the same, and I wouldnt expect I would be the same if something happened to my wife. Afterall they were best friends. My mom was my dads life.

I am not ready to lose another parent. I cannot believe this is already happening.

Please pray for my dad.....

Thanks We hope so. His heart and his kidneys are operating at only 15% out of 100%. Everything happened so fast. For the past few weeks b4 going to the hospital he was a little confused and not feeling so well. He fell in his condo....and since then things have not been good. He also fell in the hospital - He had rang for the nurse, and no one came in the middle of the night - so he got up and tried to go himself....But he fell. Thankgod for his roomate....He got the nurse to come. They gave him a cat scan but didnt tell us till the morning that he fell. We are not very happy with this hospital....That is why we hired an amazing private nurse to be with him 24 hours a day.....

I almost lost my dad earlier this year he got into a very bad motorcycle accident. luckily he made a recovery but it wasso hard

I am glad your father is doing well. My dad is not doing so well. I will keep you posted on what is going on with him

Scott...I'm so very sorry! I hope and pray your Dad gets stronger with every passing day.

Update on my dad - His vitals are still strong, but his kidneys are getting worse each day. His heart is also very weak.

Yesterday I was there to see him, and he actually said hello to me. Waived goodbye to my brother when he said he was going home.....And still had a really strong grip.

As of now, the doctors and nurses are just keeping him comfortable. There is nothing else they can do for him.

Instead of them transferring my dad to hospice, we are able to keep him in his private room in the hospital.

The doctor said, my dad wouldnt be able to handle being transferred.

Now my family and I just try to spend as much time that we can with our father.

We cannot believe this all happened so fast.

Oh Scott. I'm sorry you are going through this so soon after your mother passed. Staying in the hospital is sometimes the best. Please keep us posted.

Thanks everyone. They are giving my dad Morphine now....We were there today and he was sleeping the whole time....Its sooo sad. He doesnt even know that we are there.

I bought shaving cream and razors today, and our private nurse shaved him. He would really appreciate that....If he was able to see it.

Last week after we had his hair cut, he was looking in the mirror and combing his hair every chance he could get. He didnt want anyone to see him with messed up hair.

Every day his kidney levels get worse. His heart is also very weak too....

Soon my father will be with my mother again. He has been so depressed and sad since my mom passed away.....I am happy they will be together again, but sad that he wont be in my life anymore.

Over the past year and a half since my mom passed away, Danielle's family has made my dad feel like one of their family. They have invited him to birthday parties and all of the barbeques that the family had. I really appreciate my wifes family very much. I am so happy that they took my dad into their lives....It means so much to me......

I am so not ready to go through this again.....I cannot believe that this is going to happen.

I am happy that my dad saw my House, my puppy, and got to share many good times with us. He got to see my brothers daughter, my sisters son, and my other sisters two sons. I wish that he got to see Danielle and I have children. I wish both my parents were alive to see that....

I am sooooo sad
